The American Civil War was unique in that it allowed, for the first time, the average soldier to have his image recorded for posterity (and the folks back home) at a reasonable price. In some cases for the first time in over a century, images of the officers and men of the Seventeenth Connecticut Volunteer Infantry are presented.
